Srushti Deshmukh began preparations for the UPSC entrance in her third year in engineering. She was unsure if engineering is the right career for her. She realized later the dream job she wanted was within the civil service, and she decided to pursue this. Her parents encouraged her to go into civil service, and to pursue an employment in the public sector. She focused her energy on becoming an IAS officer. To be able to pass UPSC to be achieved, more hard work is required. She would study her engineering courses and prepare for UPSC as well as other disciplines. Each day she allocated time for exam preparation. She was able to pass the exams for engineers in less than one and a half months and avoided social life and all social media sites. She believes that focusing on the task at hand is the key to passing this exam. She set out to make it through the exam in one go, and she was able to put in a lot of hours. Her daily routine included reading newspapers to keep current with all the latest information. Rajya Sabha TV and online study materials were also a huge help for her.
